Vault basics

Vaults and Collections. Updated 17 October 2026

A Vault is one world: a campaign, a setting, a game. Everything you make for it lives inside it, and nothing leaks into your other Vaults.

What a Vault holds

  • Collections hold your records: people, places, items, factions, sessions, or anything else. You define the fields of a Collection, and records can link to each other.
  • Maps, Roll Tables, Dungeons, Decks and the Library (images, audio and books) sit beside them.
  • The Dashboard is the Vault’s home page.
  • Tools such as Dice, Music and the Assistant open from the tool tray.

Roles

Each member of a Vault has one role.

Role What they can do
Owner Everything, plus Vault settings, members, modules, export and deleting the Vault. One per Vault.
Editor Read everything, and create, edit, delete and restore content, roll dice and draw cards.
Viewer Read everything, use the Assistant and play music.

To share a Vault, open Vault settings, then Members, enter the person’s username, pick a role and choose Grant access. They need a Lorechive account first. To hand a Vault over, use Make Owner next to a member; the Owner can’t leave until another member is the Owner.

Modules

Under Vault settings, Modules, the Owner can turn modules off. Turned-off modules disappear from navigation and their content is hidden, but nothing is deleted. The Dashboard, Collections and Library are always on.

Deleted content

Deleting a record, Map or other item moves it to Recently deleted in Vault settings, where an Editor can restore it. Deleting a whole Vault is different: it is permanent and can’t be restored. Export the Vault first if you might want it back; see Download your data and delete your account.
