Get back into your account
Forgot your password? There are three ways back in. Use the first one that applies to you.
1. Email reset link
If your account has an email address, this is the fastest way.
- On the log-in page, choose Forgot your password?
- Enter your username or email and select Send reset link.
- Open the email and follow the link. It works once, and only for 1 hour.
- Choose a new password and select Set new password. Log in with it.
For privacy, the page gives the same answer whether or not an account matches: “If an account matches and has an email address, we’ve sent it a reset link.” If nothing arrives, check your spam folder, and then try one of the other ways below. If the server has no email set up, the page says so.
2. Recovery code
If you turned on two-factor authentication, you saved a set of recovery codes. Each looks like xxxxx-xxxxx, and each works once.
- On the reset page, choose Use a recovery code instead.
- Enter your username and one recovery code.
- Choose a new password.
You can check how many recovery codes you have left, and make a new set, in Account under Two-factor authentication. A new set replaces the old one, so the old codes stop working. Save the new codes somewhere safe, such as a password manager.
The same recovery codes also work when you log in and can’t reach your authenticator app: enter one where the app asks for a 6-digit code.
3. Ask an administrator
An administrator can issue you a one-time reset link. On Lorechive’s own service, write to support@mylorechive.com from the email address on your account, and give your username. We will not ask for your password or your recovery codes.
After you reset
Changing your password logs out your other sessions. If you did not ask for the reset, log in and check Active sessions in your account.
